This policy explains what information CPTL Technologies LLC ("CPTL", "we", "us") collects when you use the CPTL iPhone app, our text message service and this website (together, the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have.

The short version: we collect what we need to watch your portfolio and text you about it. We never sell your personal information. We never share your phone number or text message consent with anyone for their marketing. Brokerage access is read-only: we can see what you hold, but we can never place trades or move money.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Phone number, which we verify with a one-time code and use to send your alerts.
  • Portfolio information: the stocks and funds you hold or watch and, if you choose, how many shares. If you link a brokerage, this comes from your account (see below).
  • Preferences, such as which topics you want texts about.
  • Messages you send us by text, including questions you ask about your portfolio.

Brokerage connection

If you link a brokerage, you sign in through our connection partner, not through CPTL. We never see or store your brokerage password. We receive read-only information about your holdings (such as tickers and share counts) and use it only to provide the Service.

Information collected automatically

  • An anonymous account identifier created when you first open the app.
  • Basic technical logs (such as request times and errors) needed to run and secure the Service.
  • A record of the alerts we've sent you, so we don't repeat ourselves and can answer follow-up questions.

Payments

Subscriptions are purchased through Apple (in the iPhone app) or Stripe (on our website). Your card details go directly to them; we receive your subscription status (for example, active or expired) and, for web purchases, a Stripe customer ID.

How we use information

  • To watch market news, filings, earnings and price moves for the securities you hold or follow, and to decide which events are relevant to you.
  • To send you alert texts, answer the questions you text us, and show your briefing in the app.
  • To verify your phone number, manage your subscription, provide support, and keep the Service secure.
  • To fix problems and improve the Service.

We do not use your information to give personalized investment advice. CPTL explains market events; it does not recommend buying or selling any security.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for third parties' advertising. We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service, under agreements that limit their use of it to providing services to us:

  • Hosting and database providers that store and run the Service.
  • Text messaging providers that deliver our texts and receive your replies.
  • AI providers that help us rate news and write plain-English explanations and answers. They receive the relevant market information, your question, and the portfolio details needed to answer it.
  • Market data providers, which receive the ticker symbols we look up, not your identity.
  • Brokerage connection and subscription management partners, as described above.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of CPTL or others, or as part of a merger or sale of our business (in which case this policy will continue to apply).

Text messaging: No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except the service providers that deliver our messages.

Text messages

By verifying your phone number, you agree to receive automated alert texts from CPTL (whenever something important affects your portfolio, plus replies to your messages). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop texts, or HELP for help. See our text messaging terms.

How long we keep information

We keep your information while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep certain records to comply with law, resolve disputes, or prevent fraud.

Your choices and rights

  • Stop texts by replying STOP, or pause alerts in the app.
  • Disconnect your brokerage at any time.
  • Access, correct or delete your information by emailing support@cptl.app. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and hashed login tokens and verification codes. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Service is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app or by text before they take effect.
